April 20th

Sorry for the late blog post today. Today was mostly an uneventful day at the hospital. Christine had several visitors throughout the day to chat with and keep her company. The eye doctor came by and replaced one of her bandage lenses with a larger size, and Christine says it's very uncomfortable and has requested that he come back and try the next size down (the one he took out was several sizes smaller). Christine's temperature was about a degree higher than it has been, so that's another thing to watch closely now. It's not so high as to be concerning on it's own, but the increase warrants monitoring. Christine looked at herself in a hand held mirror for the first time, and started crying. She wasn't  upset though, she had apparently expected to look much worse. She said that based on how the skin on her face felt and the reactions and comments people gave her she had expected to look more like a zombie. It was nice to see that she wasn't scared by what she saw.

The funny poppy coincidence

So it dawned on me last night that Aunt Cindy and I selected an artistic poppy background for this blog. Christine requested that we pick a pink background, and most of the templates we found looked too baby pink or pastel-y  We picked the poppy's purely on their visual appeal. However, last night I put two and two together and realized that the poppy selection is actually a pretty funny (ironic?) selection, given the morphine that is keeping Christine's pain in check through this whole ordeal. In case you have noted this coincidence, it was not intentional! But funny none the less.
