Christine successfully spent the night by herself last night! She said she woke up four times in the night, but only called for her nurse two of those times (to go to the bathroom). I'm with her now while she gets ready for bed, but she is staying on her own tonight as well.
She has a new derm team, but not much was discussed today. Having not seen her for over 24 hours, I can say she looks less red and the red areas might look a little bit less raised. However, her mucosal areas are still full of sores and they are bleeding a lot. Her lips look like they might be starting to heal on the edges, but there is still a lot of healing to go. She unfortunately is still in a lot of pain, and her she still feels like there are matches lit under her skin.
Dad and Grammy Jane came down to visit today, and brought cute thank you cards and markers upon request. Mom was here most of the day, and Grandpa John came in the evening. He was unhappy that my stash of mixed nuts had disappeared (he doesn't seem to realize it's because he ate them all!). Rachel from work today came armed with lots of goodies, two of her bosses stopped by, and her friend Lauren came with beautiful flowers. Lauren actually wrote a paper about Christine's diagnosis for a class.
She went for several walks and did many PT exercises! She actually almost fell on one of her walks with Dad because her legs were weak from the exercises. She is definitely feeling stronger and starting to do more normal tasks like wash her face and brush her teeth, though her joints and muscles cause her lots of pain. Tonight she was even out of bed organizing things in her room and cleaning off her side table! She still needs Vaseline gauze on two spots on her body, but she no longer needs her burn vests and has opted for a hospital johnny instead. She says it's rough and irritating, but cooler than the burn vests.
Christine says she is doing her best to keep her spirits high, and thanks for the continued show of support.
